Corby Town FC hosted the annual Walking Football Tournament last weekend with some teams travelling quite a distance to take part.
All went off well on the day with only the Corby Ladies reaching a final.
Corby Ladies were beaten on penalties in the final by Nottingham Forrest Ladies but not a bad start for the girls who have just been formed this year and will obviously go one better next year.
The men’s sections were split into Men’s 50+ and Men’s 65+.
The Corby Men’s 50s were in a strong section with teams coming from Solihull,Norwich,Skegness,Stamford,Northampton,Harborough and Kettering.
The final saw Solihull Moors beating Kettering in the final.
The Corby Men’s 65s saw Corby put out two teams as this is our largest age group at the club.
Both teams were found out on the day not securing enough wins on the day, only draws even against each other.
Leaving the teams fifth and sixth in the league and not making the semis.
The final was played out by Norwich and Moulton Masters ( Northampton ) with Norwich winning 2-1.
The day went off well and we had some nice reviews after from teams that took part on the day.
Thank you to Corby Town for the use of all their facilities on the day and the Corby players who helped with laying out pitches, planning schedule and drinks raffle which made it a great day for all.
