The action on the second day began with a 9.30 am kick off between Corby Warrior Crusaders Under-11s and FC Aztec Braves Under-11s in the Under-11 League Cup Final. Corby Warriors were never in any real danger of losing this game as they led 4-1 at half time and eventually claimed the trophy with a 5-3 victory.
This was followed at 11.00 am by the Under-11s League Plate Final between Earls Barton United Under-11s and Whitworths Under-11s. Whitworths led this one 1-0 at half time but Earls Barton turned it around in the second half to win 2-1.
Into the afternoon and next to emerge from the Steel Park dressing rooms at 12.30 pm were Burton Park Wanderers Under-12s and Ringstead Rangers Under-12s for the Under-12 League Plate Final. This was a close encounter which ended all-square at 2-2 and went to a penalty shoot-out which was won 5-4 by Ringstead Rangers. As a matter of interest, the referee for this game was former Corby Town reserve team goalkeeper Chris McAleer.
The 2.00 pm kick off Under-12 League Cup Final was an eagerly anticipated all Corby affair between Corby Diamonds Under-12s and Corby Stewarts & Lloyds Under-12s. Diamonds had won the Under-12 Division One title by four points from second placed Stewarts & Lloyds so a tight contest was expected. And that was how it proved as a piece of wing magic by Owen Jacques opened the way for Jude Rodwell to score the only goal of the game and saw Stewarts & LLoyds lift the trophy (see photo above).
The next game at 3.45 pm also featured Corby Diamonds as Paul Malone's Under-15 team took on Mawsley in the Under-15s League Cup Final. Diamonds already had the Under-15 Division One title under their belts and although Mawsley made them fight all the way they completed a League and Cup double with a narrow 1-0 victory.
And so to the final game of an enjoyable weekend's football - Great Doddington versus Ise Lodge Eagles in the Under-15 League Plate Final. Ise Lodge had been scoring goals for fun en route to the Final and had netted four times in both their Under-15 Division One fixtures against Doddington in the regular league season. Today was to be an extension of that form as Ise Lodge raced into a 3-1 lead inside twenty five minutes and eventually won 8-6.
