Corby Town recovered a three-goal half time deficit to earn a deserved share of the spoils from their pre-season friendly at Stamford on Tuesday 25th July. Corby went into the game without skipper Michael Jacklin and with a number of trialists in their squad.
The Steelmen fell behind after just three minutes and picked up a couple of yellow cards as they conceded an early penalty. Former Stamford goalkeeper Ben Heath saved Rob Morgan's kick but as the Corby defender admired their keeper's handiwork Harry Vince reacted quickest to net the rebound.
One soon became two when Jack Duffy slotted in Stamford's second and before the inyerval former Corby striker Ricky Miller added a third from close range following a Trey Charles centre.
Corby reacted by making personel and positional changes at half time and these paid off almost immediately when substitute Khris Oti scored from the edge of the penalty area after 48 minutes.
Stamford goalkeeper Dan Wallis then cleared from the dangerous Oti but the ball fell at the feet of Jude Adebayo out wide on the left and his carefully flighted lob sailed into the unguarded net.
The comeback was completed with the best goal of the game, Jordan O'Brien firing in an unstoppable shot from outside the penalty area for his sixth goal of pre-season.
This was a highly competitive fixture which will proved beneficial to both sides.
