Setch started his managerial career at Wisbech Town in 2008 before moving on to King's Lynn Town in 2010.
Gary managed to take The Linnets from the UCL to the Northern Premier Division within 3 seasons, finishing runners up of the UCL twice before winning the NPL Division One South title at the first attempt. While with Kings Lynn Town, Setchell guided the side to their best runs in both the FA Vase and FA Trophy, agonisingly missing out on a trip to Wembley in the Vase after a semi final defeat by Coalville Town.
After being in the hot seat for 384 games, a return to Wisbech Town followed in 2017.
In 2020, Gary took up the reigns of Bedford Town, who at the time were bottom of the Southern Football League Central division.
After covid interrupted his first season, he led The Eagles to the title in his first full season before being let go of his duties in November 2022.
As a player, Setch is no stranger to the local area, being part of the Rushden and Diamonds side who won the Nationwide Conference and the old Third Division and also featured for Kettering Town.
We caught up with Gary following today's appointment.
" I was dissapointed with the way things ended at Bedford and was not looking for a new role but after getting the call from Stevie it was an opportunity I could not refuse.
We have had a fantastic meeting today and I am looking forward to an exciting few years ahead. "
Setchell will be assisted at the club by Darren Edey.
We will be bringing more updates from the new manager and news on his backroom team throughout the week.
